Easy to access and located near Ajaccio, Richiusa Canyon offers a very pleasant descent featuring all the ingredients of Corsican canyoning: jumps, water slides, rappels, succession of natural pools and zip-line.
Richiusa Canyon is one of the must-see canyoning destinations in Europe.
This gorge is carved into the granite massif of Migliarella, cutting into the mountain to a depth of around one hundred meters. The natural pools that make it up are perfectly shaped, the water is crystal clear and takes on emerald colors.
This exceptional natural environment is the ideal playground for canyoning enthusiasts.
The descent is accessible to everyone, you don't need canyoning experience to enjoy the activity. Children from 9 years old will be delighted to discover this wonderful site, which presents no major difficulties.
However, being able to swim is mandatory to fully enjoy the descent.
The most physically demanding and difficult part is the approach hike to reach the descent starting point. You should allow between 45 minutes and one hour of hiking on a mountain trail to reach the canyon. Some passages are quite steep and require good physical fitness, notably a tedious ten-minute climb up a very steep scree slope. However, don't give up – the effort is truly worth it.
The descent is very fun and varied, you'll encounter all the ingredients of canyoning.
Jumps are of course never mandatory, you can bypass them or take advantage of them. The highest jump in Richiusa measures 7 m and many smaller jumps dot the course.
A rappel descent is located in the first third of the course, giving beginners the chance to try out a very fun aspect of canyoning.
The water slides of Richiusa are very well-known; you'll discover 7 superb water slides during your descent.
The descent of Richiusa Canyon lasts approximately 2 hours, with the total activity taking half a day.
